Just Tell Me – Lyrics

I guess I should’ve seen something comin’

I guess I should’ve started running a-way.

You’re always looking so fine, but I’m feelin’ so blind.

There’s something going on I don’t know.

In your eyes I see you’re hiding.

Is there something that I really should know?

You always say go, but your actions feel no.

I can’t make out what you want from me.

And there’s just no other way to go,

Until you tell me what I need to know.

I’m falling on the edge of everything I know,

And I’m wishin’ you would find another way to show.

I’m thinking if you don’t want me then just tell me no!

I’m standing in the darkness and I’m feelin’ low.

And the storm is gonna rage until you let it go.

I’m thinking if you don’t want me then just tell me no!

Then Just Tell Me No.

I guess I’ll always be running.

Chasing after a thing I just can’t find.

All the days turn to blurs, and something occurs (to me)

I don’t want to do this alone.

But there’s just no other way to go,

Until I find that something I really need to know.

What more can I do, to find the life that all my friends have found?

I just toss and turn at night, thinking, why won’t you just say what you want from me.

It really is just better to cut the cord and just let me go

Instead of keeping me around until you have a use for me.

Lyrics to “The Window”

A young man’s accident brings him to John’s room.

He’s turned to John so they can give each other company.

John says, “How ya doin son? Maybe you would like to play some cards?”

“Well sir, if you haven’t noticed, I can’t move”.

Well son, you know that’s just too bad, but I am certain you’d be glad,

To know there is a window over there.

A window? What’s the point of that? The world is pale…and cruel.

John says, smiling softly “Why don’t I tell you what I see”?

The Autumn leaves begin to fall, and the children are racing through it all.

They run, and play, and fly right off the swings.

They soar their kite’s high it the air, and they laugh and sing without a care.

The games they play with friends make them feel free!

I hope when they get to be this frail that they remember,

The wonderful fun I see them have through the window.

December rolls on in, here in John’s room

John’s pleasant enough, but it seems that he is fading

John says, “How ya doin son? Maybe play some cards today?”

“John, if you haven’t noticed, I still can’t move”.

Well one day you know you will my boy, and it will fill your heart with joy!

Just look out of the window over there.

John you know I can’t do that! My body is a tomb…

Smiling softly again, “But oh, if you could see what I see!”

A man has gotten down on one knee, and the onlookers jump so cheerfully

She must’ve said yes, because now they’re embraced.

This will be the star of the rest of their lives, and if I was there then I’d advise

To frequently remember to apologize.

I hope when they get to be this old that they’ll remember

The wonderful love I see in them through the window.

Someone’s gone away, here in john’s room

The young man stares at where his new friend used to be

The young man says, “How ya doin, John? Maybe we could play some cards today?

I’m feeling like I can move a little now”…

And it’ really too bad that you’re not here…you never really had much to fear

from the world…and I’ll try to look out the window

He slowly gets his way around, but he only sees a brick wall

A nurse brings him a letter, and it’s titled “From John”…

If you’re reading this, you’ve seen the wall, but I hope you know that that’s not all

I’ve wanted you to see your life how others have seen

The stories I’ve told you are from your past, and hopefully the memories all will last

You’ve lived a life that’s full, but you’re not done!

I hope when you hit this stage of life; you’ll remember,

The wonderful life you CHOSE to see through the window.

I hope when you hit this stage of life; you’ll remember,

The wonderful life you choose…to see through your window.
